Shane Brenner’s introduction to combat sports and martial arts began with the pugilistic art of Boxing when he started training at Gene Lewis Boxing club when he was 12 years old . At age 14 he moved with his family to Flagstaff where upon not finding any boxing gyms to continue his training he decided to transition to a different combative sport when he joined his wrestling team in high school. He eventually became a team captain and a state placer his senior year.
The time spent on the wrestling team would spark a passion and a desire in Shane to seek out and expand his grappling knowledge. At this time with it being 1999 and UFC and Jiu Jitsu still in its infancy the U.S. finding gyms that trained in this form of martial arts was hard to come by , especially in the small town of Flagstaff. Luckily for him he did find a group of like minded individuals that had a small club at Northern Arizona University where they would gather a few times a week to practice strangling and armbarring eachother in an unused matted room at the school.
For the next seven years Shane continued on his martial arts journey taking the ronin (wandering or masterlass saumari ) path and training at various clubs and gyms all the while picking up knowledge while compteing at local tournaments in grappling, smoker bouts in kick boxing and a couple armature mma fights.
It wasnt until 2005 that Shane finally had a chance to train with a true master of the fighting arts when he relocated to Salt Lake with his family and joined Ledgendary MMA Jeremy Horns gym. He was with Jeremy Horns Elite Performance gym for the remainder of his professional career which spanned from 2005 to 2010 and finished with a record of 5-5 .
After 2010 Shane went back to his child hood hometown of Pittsburg Ca and spent a year there working as an instuctor at LA Boxing . It was here that Shane discovered his true passion in the Martial Arts field which was teaching and sharing his decades of knowledge to the next generation.
After a year Shane moved back to Salt Lake and decided to dedicate all of his time and energy to the Art of Gracie Brazilan Jiu Jitsu and began training at Fusion Academy under Pedro Sauer Gracie Jiu Jitsu Black Belt Eddie Edmunds. Currently Shane is a Brown Belt in Jiu Jitsu and can be found most nights of the week either training hard to improve his skills or showing the next generation the way.
Shane is also a certified instructor in the movement art of Ginastica Natural which has been around and practiced for decades by some of the greatest martial arts legends of all time including Rickson Gracie, Roger Gracie , George St Pierre and many others . Ginastica is a natural body weight practice which combines flowing movements of Jiu Jitsu with yoga and animal type movements all into one highly functional training system.
